Beauty In Numbers

I want to create art backed by data.

In the data science community, there is a lot of energy and attention devoted to making better business decisions through data. Why do we do this? To generate profits for companies. This optimization through data is done specifically with the intention of supporting businesses.

This is very useful for our economy but how can we use data to support our emotions, psyche, and citizen morale? Scientists speak about the upcoming singularity in technology. People have paranoia and fears due to governments manipulating technology to spy on citizens. Our world is in a state where technology provides opportunity but leaves people in fear.

How can we change peoples perspective of this double edged sword know as technology?

Symbiosis between humankind and technology has grown more and more intricate throughout our many generations of existence on earth. I don’t know how far we are from being physically bonded to technology but I can say with certainty that we are already somewhat in sync with our technological tools as a species. Whether we like it or not, our ability to change ourselves and our environments with technology is by far one of our greatest abilities as humans.

Building infrastructure to create art through data creates chances for technologists and musicians to meet at a crossroad. This crossroad that mingles elements of human nature and technology will bring us closer to technology in a way that puts our interests and needs as humans more in the scope of what technology provides. If we take a step back from the money and data and focus on the understanding and context that data can provide us, I firmly believe that we can understand far more elements of the human mind, consciousness, and what makes us feel.

My mind flows at a billion thoughts a second. I want to innovate as much as possible. Why not take a step towards bridging my world of 10+ years in music creation to the ever-present world of data.

As I look for packages to assist me in creating 3d visualizations like Turtle and Open3d, I reference the following video for inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99gMbK2QCKE&t=272s
